Michael Stich

... won the men's singles title at Wimbledon in 1991 – beating Boris Becker, in straight sets, in the final! This was the first Wimbledon tournament after German unification.

It was Stich's only Grand Slam singles win. He reached the finals of the US Open in 1994 and the French Open in 1996, but lost both. He also won one Grand Slam doubles title – partnering John McEnroe to victory in the 1992 men's doubles at Wimbledon in 1992; and he was a member of the victorious German team in the Davis Cup in 1993.
